
They call it the “most exciting two minutes in sports,” but that doesn’t truly give enough credit to all the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Kentucky Derby, and this year, Jennifer Nettles kicked it all off with her rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Nettles performed the national anthem in front of an estimated 160,000 fans at Churchill Downs while sporting an elaborate hat, as is Derby tradition. The singer took to her Instagram earlier today (May 4) to post about the pink Arturo Rios-designed hat, writing, “What a treat. I don’t know, is my fascinator big enough?”
