She’s still Jenny from the block.
Jennifer Lopez closed the runway at Versace’s spring 2020 show during Milan fashion week on Friday (Sept. 20) in a fresh, recreated version of her iconic green gown she wore to the Grammy Awards in 2000.
Lopez was joined by the designer Donatella Versace herself, as the two were met with a standing ovation.
The new dress has the same emerald color and plunging V-neckline as the original, but the 2019 edition features modern short sleeves and cut outs at the waist. “I was preparing for a last-minute fitting with [Lopez] in New York, driving down Fifth Avenue in a taxi, and I remember seeing that green dress in the window of the Versace boutique,” recalls former stylist Andrea Lieberman of the now iconic 2000 gown. “When she tried it on, everyone knew it was the dress.”
Following her 20th anniversary moment, Lopez took to Instagram to share a video of herself strutting down the runway. “So this just happened,” she wrote. See it below.
