LONDON – Simon Fuller has signed reality producer Endemol as a production partner on Q’Viva (The Chosen), the Latin American talent search competition his venture XIX Entertainment is launching with Jennifer Lopez and Mark Anthony.
Endemol, the producer of shows like Wipeout and Big Brother, will leverage its network of production companies across Latin America to act as XIX’s production partner for the 21-country extravaganza. It will also localize the show for individual markets, distribute the show internationally and launch local format versions outside the US.
Fuller said Endemol’s ambition and reach made it the ideal choice to become part of the project.
“Endemol is the world’s most potent production company and their huge distribution network across the world will compliment perfectly my vision for entertainment shows with global reach and scalability, he said.
“[Endemol CEO] Ynon Kreiz is a powerful partner and his commitment to innovate and support our ambitious plans will make this an exciting project,” Fuller added.
The talent search show sees Lopez and Anthony travel across Latin America from Argentina to Venezuela and from Bolivia to Uruguay, picking the best talent in local competitions to compete in an explosive live finale of Latin music, dance and culture. The show will be filmed in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
XIX Entertainment is understood to be close to announcing English and Latin-speaking networks to carry the show domestically and plans to launch it simultaneously on leading television networks across North, Central and South America.
Billed by Lopez as “probably the biggest thing I’ve been involved in yet,” Q’Viva will see the singer and her husband tour begin their search for break-out talent in July, travelling across the length and breadth of Latin America.
As well as the competitive element – which will culminate in a spectacular live show – the filming will explore the backgrounds of key performers and give audiences an insight into their lives
