Jennifer Lopez and Shakira shared their spotlight on the stage of the Super Bowl 54 halftime show on Sunday night (Feb. 2) when Lopez’s daughter, Emme, delivered one of the best surprises of the night.
Music runs in the family for the 11-year-old — yes, Lopez is her multi-talented mama, but her dad is Latin crooner Marc Anthony — and she added her voice to the family business when she took over the vocals for a re-work of her mom’s 2000 single.
After both Shakira and Lopez ran through several of their career-defining hits and Lopez broke out her pole dancing prowess for a Hustlers throwback, Emme — along with a choir of kids, all donned in white — left her metallic cage onstage, and joined Lopez to sing some of the song’s most inspirational lyrics: “If you want to live your life / Live it all the way and don’t waste it.”
Shakira got in on the family fun as well: she accompanied Emme on a drumkit, keeping time as Lopez — visibly elated and brandishing a feathery cape in the colors of the Puerto Rican flag — sang the chorus of the track alongside her daughter.
