With Jennifer Hudson stopping by Empire this week, fans are getting an early taste of her track, which will be featured on the hit Fox series.
Hudson’s “Remember the Music” is a moving ballad that puts the Oscar winner’s vocal prowess at the forefront.
“‘Remember the Music’ truly exemplifies the power that music can have in all of our lives,” Hudson tells People, who debuted the track on March 9. “In my own life and my own art, I have always aimed to move past barriers and step outside my comfort zone as much as possible, and music has always been a tool that has allowed me to do so. This song really showcases the ability that music has in helping people to find strength and clarity.”
Hudson’s co-star, “Empire” star Trai Byers, opened up last week about Hudson’s appearance on the series, airing March 11. Without spoiling too much, she’s slated to play a music therapist who forms a special bond with his character, Andre.
“She brings a purity with her as an actress into the role of Michelle that connects with the purity of Andre,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “Her light shines onto his light, and her light combines with his light, and it showcases the Andre that he can potentially be in a way that steps away from the needs of Empire Entertainment. It’s a beautiful thing [because] it seems that Andre could have gone any way but went the way of the family, which kind of buried him, and there’s so much more potential there. What can he do? He doesn’t have to be a part of that world. I think that’s encouraging, and she will encourage.”
