Today public relations pro Jennie Boddy joins publicity veteran Ambrosia Healy to open an East Coast branch of The Fun Star, the publicity firm founded by Healy. Boddy will oversee the East Coast office, while Healy and associate Erin Cooney run The Fun Star West Coast.
The Fun Star’s impressive roster will now include Alabama Shakes, Bastille, Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, Die Antwoord, Emeli Sande, Feist, Phish, Robyn, The Belle Brigade, TV on The Radio, Marilyn Manson and Yeah Yeah Yeahs among others.

Boddy, who began her career in 1988 as the first publicist for Seattle label Sub Pop, was described as “Sub Pop’s human press dynamo” in Everett True’s Nirvana biography. In 1994, she joined Interscope Records, where she says she “learned to count with Feist on ‘Sesame Street,’ timed contractions for M.I.A. at the Grammys, commandeered golf carts at Coachella when Vice’s The Creator’s Project took over, walked Marilyn Manson to the film ‘Bowling for Columbine’ and survived photo shoots with TV on The Radio.”
After a 6-month stint as M.I.A.’s manager in 2010, Boddy returned to publicity at Press Here, where she advised “all press is good press–except when it’s bad.
About her 25 years in the business, Boddy adds that she “keeps a shoe change to go from rock clubs to red carpets” and is “currently undecided whether to wear sneakers or heels to walk into The Fun Star.”
