Jenni Rivera renewed her recording contract with UMLE/Fonovisa. She has a reality TV series on bilingual channel mun2. And now, she has her own radio show.
“Contacto Directo con Jenni Rivera” will begin airing October on radio properties cross-country owned by Entravision Communications, Billboard has learned. The radio talk show is geared toward Latina women in the United States and will cover a broad range of topics, including entertainment, relationships, fashion and pop culture. The four-hour talk show will air once a week during a yet-to-be-determined weekday. It will initially debut on 13 Entravision stations located in California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado, but will also be available for Spanish-language syndication on radio stations throughout the United States.
Rivera, one of the biggest female names in regional Mexican music, is one of the core acts for Entravision’s regional Mexican format stations. As a brand, Rivera has also become one of the most identifiable faces in Latin music thanks to her television show and other past ventures, including a makeup line. Rivera plans to have guests on the show and discuss a wide variety of issues, from immigration reform to relationships and family. As a tie-in with her music, listeners will also hear special performances and information and “audio stories” from backstage at her shows.
With the Entravision deal, Rivera becomes only the second high-profile Latin music artist to host her own radio show. Mexican pop star Thalia hosts “Conexión Thalía” which airs on ABC Radio.
