Banda diva Jenni Rivera has the first No. 1 debut of her career on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart this week for her latest on Fonovisa, “Jenni.” The album moved 16,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it Rivera’s best sales week ever.
R.K.M. & Ken-Y, the best-selling new Latin act of 2006, come in just after Rivera at No. 2 with their new Machete/Universal release, “The Royalty: La Realeza.”
The romantic duo’s “Masterpiece: Nuestra Obra Maestra” also debuted at No. 2 in 2006. But “The Royalty” sold more in its first week, moving 15,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
R.K.M. & Ken-Y also debuted at No. 37 on Hot Latin Songs this week with “Te Regalo Amores.” The song, written by and produced by Wise, Los Magnificos and Mambo Kingz, is the first Hot Latin chart entry by R.K.M. & Ken-Y since “Lloraras,” which peaked at No. 9 last June. (Nicky Jam’s song “Gas Pela,” which featured R.K.M., went to No. 45 on Hot Latin Songs in January).
