The hip-hop mogul appears in Obama’s new campaign ad, titled “The Power of Our Voice.”
“When the president got in office initially, what he represented to a nation of kids was hope,” Jay says in the video. “The hope of people all across the country, who would look and see themselves and know the possibilities.”
The ad features footage of Obama’s video remarks during Jay’s headlining set in Made in America, where he calls the rapper’s success the product of hard work. “That’s the promise of this country,” Obama said at the time.
Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted a fundraiser for Obama in September at the 40/40 Club. The Republican National Committee was critical of the event at the time, describing Obama as “hobnobbing” with stars instead of spending time on national policies.
