Coldplay has announced three stadium shows in the U.K. for September 2009.
The dates begin Sept. 12 at Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground, continue on Sept. 16 at Glasgow’s Hampden Park and finish Sept. 19 at London’s Wembley Stadium. Jay-Z, who guests on “Lost+” on the band’s special edition album, will be the support act on all dates.
The three-date tour has been booked by X-Ray Touring and is promoted by SJM and Metropolis. The band has also partnered with national Top 40 station Radio 1 for the tour.
Coldplay released “Viva La Vida – Prospekt’s March” (Capitol), a two-disc special edition of its latest album “Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends,” on Nov. 24. It includes a second disc of eight previously unreleased tracks and is also available as an EP.
“Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends” was originally released in June and charted at No. 1 in 36 countries, including the U.S. and U.K., according to Capitol.
The band’s sold-out 2008 U.K. winter tour commences at Sheffield on Nov. 29. It has also announced a seven-date Australian tour for February and March.
