Imagem Music U.S., the U.S. pop division of Imagem Music Group, has named veteran industry exec Jason Jordan as president.
With immediate effect, New York-based Jordan will be responsible for overseeing the division’s A&R activity and creative strategy.
“We are very happy how our Imagem Music Pop business has developed during the last few years in the U.S., with signings such as Mark Ronson, John Shanks and seminal catalogs like Elvis Presley and Sammy Cahn and of course the success of Daft Punk in 2013,” comments Imagem Group CEO André de Raaff, to whom Jordan reports.

“However we want our U.S. company to focus even more on the A&R activities of our current and new roster,” he adds. “This has led our long search for finding the right candidate to Jason, whom I’m convinced will do an excellent job.”
Jordan founded the punk rock label Watermark Records and the boutique music publishing company Earthprogram Music, both while attending high school and college and learning the ropes at RykoMusic.

He then served as A&R director at Columbia Records, working with electronic music stars such as Josh Wink and Armand Van Helden. In 1998, Jordan joined Hollywood Records/Disney Music Group as VP A&R. He served in that position for almost 14 years, and was responsible for discovering and working with talent that shifted upwards of 10 million records. Jordan also helped finance the launch of SynchTank, which provides software to catalog owners and managers to help maximize revenue, and improve catalog management, licensing and sync opportunities.
“Since I was a teenager I have been in this industry, and over time I have worked with everything from punk rock to EDM to commercial rock and straight out pop,” Jordan tells Billboard.biz. “To me, my role has always been the same – which is to discover and work with the best music, artists and writers in any genre. Imagem as a company has made its mission to be excellent at working with a broad spectrum of music and finding ways to be successful with that music.”
