Jason Aldean‘s “Night Train” is steamrolling its way to a big No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 next week. Industry sources suggest that the album will sell around 400,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Oct. 21.
The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 24.

If Aldean sells the forecasted amount, the Broken Bow Records album will not only secure him his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, but also the second-largest debut of the year. Only Mumford & Sons‘ “Babel,” which moved 600,000 in its first week, started with a bigger number. (The folks at RED Distribution are likely popping champagne bottles right now, as both “Babel” and “Night Train” are distributed by the indie company.)

Aldean’s biggest sales week — so far — was racked when his last album, “My Kinda Party,” debuted with 193,000 (according to Nielsen SoundScan) in November 2010. The set bowed and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 — blocked from the No. 1 slot by Taylor Swift‘s “Speak Now,” which was in its second week at No. 1.
Aldean won’t have Swift to deal with this time around, as his album arrives one week before Swift’s new “Red” set hits retail on Oct. 22. (Though certainly, he’ll step aside in two weeks time when “Red” makes its expected massive debut.)
Other albums on course for top 10 entries next week include Brandy’s “Two Eleven,” Jamey Johnson’s “Living For a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochrane” and Scotty McCreery’s “Christmas With Scotty.”
