J-pop duo Yuzu announced the release of their 15th studio album, YUZUTOWN, sharing a visual promotional teaser of the project on YouTube.
The pixel art visuals helmed by Los Angeles and Berlin-based creative team eBoy depict a colorfully retro view of the imaginary “Yuzutown,” to be featured as the artwork of the super-duo’s highly anticipated new project.
The pair also released new photos produced by Fantasista Utamaro, a New York-based visual artist who has directed music videos for renowned artists including Pharrell Williams (“It Girl”) and Japan’s Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
The upcoming set, due March 4, will be Yuzu’s first new album since BIG YELL, released in April 2018. The project will include many songs already familiar to Japanese listeners through various tie-ins, including “Koen Dori” and “GreenGreen” (TV commercials for Ito-en’s green tea), “Muscat” (theme of Crayon Shinchan anime series), “Maboroshi” (theme of the acclaimed NHK drama series Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju), and “SEIMEI” (TV commercials for Nippon Life Insurance Company).
The duo has also announced an accompanying arena tour promoting the new album, which will stop in 13 locations for 28 concerts around Japan.
