Japan’s veteran visual kei rockers Luna Sea released the music video for “Hold You Down,” the new track off the band’s upcoming new album, LUV.
The video was directed by Shuichi Tan, a renowned creator of music videos for numerous Japanese artists. The last time he worked with the band was 17 years ago when he shot the video for “Love Song,” which was the last song the band released before their decade-long hiatus.
His video for “Hold You Down” features the band facing each other and coolly playing the song in a studio setting, yet the subdued simplicity highlights each member’s chops and magnetism.
“It really captures what Luna Sea looks like today, how the members stand and play,” said guitarist Inoran, who wrote the music. “We’re all really unique.”
Luna Sea’s new studio album, LUV, will be released Dec. 20. The band will perform two nights at the Saitama Super Arena on Dec. 23 and 24, then kick off their LUV Tour 2018 on Jan. 27. The tour will make stops in six locations for 11 shows, wrapping up March 10.
