J-pop singer-songwriter Sakurako Ohara kicked off her domestic tour Tuesday (May 21) at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A, promoting her fifth-anniversary greatest-hits collection released in March.
The tour’s subtitle, FROM NOW ON, reflects her appreciation towards her fans’ support over the years and anticipation for things to come in the future. The concert’s set consisted of a lineup highlighting the versatile performer’s distinctive career so far, including music from the musicals, theater, television dramas and movies that she has been involved in, plus covers of some favorite songs.
The 23-year-old, primarily known for her girly pop style backed by solid musicianship, shifted away from her usual acoustic guitar performances and opted for a more dance-heavy production for her fifth-anniversary show.
A multi-talented performer who got started as an actress in film, Ohara is a competent dancer and showed off her skills against a pared-down backdrop while wearing simple outfits, giving fans a taste of what to expect in the future.
Ohara also announced that her highly anticipated 10th single will drop July 31, shortly after wrapping up her tour July 11 in Kobe. The as-yet-untitled single will be featured as the opener for an upcoming drama series she will be starring in for the first time.
