Last December, J-pop singer/actress Sakurako Ohara celebrated her fifth anniversary in show business, and is marking the occasion with a greatest hits album set for release in March.
The 23-year-old artist made her acting debut as the heroine of the Japanese movie The Liar and His Lover in 2013 and simultaneously launched her music career as the vocalist of the fictional band MUSH & Co. from the movie.
Her upcoming double-disc collection, called CAM ON!: 5th Anniversary Best, will include acoustic versions of three songs from the movie — “Ashitamo,” “Chippokena Uta” and “Sotsugyo” — as well as original versions of the first two. The newly recorded, unplugged renditions of the popular numbers feature her slightly matured voice that has evolved since she first sang them as a teenager.
The limited first edition will include either a DVD or Blu-ray featuring an interview of Ohara speaking about her fifth anniversary, a collection of all of her music videos as a solo artist with her audio commentary, documentary footage of her performing in public spaces in Tokyo and Osaka after announcing her plan to do so during a free concert in spring 2018, and more. A version with a 56-page photo book will also be released.
Sakurako Ohara’s 26-track greatest-hits album, CAM ON!: 5th Anniversary Best, will drop March 6.
