Japan’s Haruomi Hosono will travel to the U.S. in May and June to perform two shows in New York and Los Angeles.
The YMO icon has been enjoying renewed interest in the U.S. recently thanks to Vampire Weekend sampling his “Hana to Mizu” (“Watering a Flower”) from 1984 on their latest track “2021” and shoutouts from artists like Devendra Banhart and Mac DeMarco.
Hosono also soundtracked Palme d’Or winning film Shoplifters by Hirokazu Kore-eda, nominated for Best Foreign Film at this year’s Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
Fans can catch his performances May 29 at the Gramercy Theatre in New York, and June 3 at the Mayan Theatre in Los Angeles.
Hosono is set to release his 22nd solo album, HOCHONO HOUSE, on March 6, which reinterprets his first solo set, HOSONO HOUSE, from 1973. The recently released tracklist features the songs from the earlier album in reverse order.
