Janelle Monae has a very clear message to those who practice or support sexism, misogyny and other forms of female discrimination: “Don’t f— with me.”
On Sunday (Sept. 9), the multi-talented musical artist posted two tweets with the same holographic video in which she confidently states, “Hello, and here is your daily reminder from the future: ‘Don’t f— with me.”
In the first tweet, Monae notes that the message is for “those who practice & support patriarchy & toxic masculinity.” The second tweet is similarly aimed at anyone practicing or supporting sexism and misogyny.
Both tweets are “signed, a black woman” and include several emojis giving the middle finger.
Monae doesn’t specifically say who or what the tweets are in response to, but her Twitter feed includes several posts about tennis star Serena Williams’ recent controversy on the court, where she accused a US Open umpire of sexism.

I ugly cried during Serena & Naomi’s match and took a day to process. Serena was every woman I know standing up for themselves, having to point out misogyny, having to get the job done, and then making sure the woman coming behind you is supported despite the discrimination faced
