Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of Britney Spears, welcomed her second child Wednesday (Apr. 11). Ivey Joan Watson was born at 10:02 a.m. in Covington, Louisiana, weighing 7 lbs., 8 oz. and measuring 19.5 inches, according to People magazine.
“We are beyond excited to welcome this beautiful baby girl to our family,” Spears told People. “Her middle name, Joan, is to honor my Aunt Sandra, who passed away 10 years ago from ovarian cancer. She was the most graceful woman I’ve ever known.”
The actress-turned-country songstress announced the baby’s arrival on Instagram, sharing a sweet family photo. “Baby Ivey Joan Watson is here,” Spears wrote in the caption.
Although Spears is now a mom of two, Ivey is her first child with her husband Jamie Watson. Spears made headlines in 2007 by announcing her first pregnancy at age 16, and giving birth to her first daughter Maddie the following year. The former Nickelodeon star’s acting career was subsequently put on hiatus, but she returned as a country singer a few years down the line. Her first single, “How Could I Want More,” was released in 2013 and peaked at #29 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs that December.
Spears married Watson in 2014, and they announced their family would be growing on Christmas Eve with a woodsy photo of the couple and Maddie, captioned “Looks like we are starting off 2018 with another big milestone…sooo happy to announce that Maddie is FINALLY going to be a big sister.”
Although Aunt Britney hasn’t publicly congratulated her little sister on baby #2, she did Tweet the 27-year-old a birthday wish earlier this month.
Wishing my sister @jamielynnspears a very happy 27th birthday today!! —-
