Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie celebrated her ninth birthday with two special guests: the first responders who saved her life four and a half months earlier.
Maddie, who turned 9 on Monday (June 19), celebrated her birthday at an LSU-themed pool party on Saturday. The first responders’ presence at the party, which featured a two-tier cake and giant letters spelling out “Happy Birthday Maddie,” was captured in a photo Spears posted Monday morning on Instagram.
“My baby is 9 years old today, and more than ever we realize how precious every day is. So, we have to thank these 2 HEROS [sic],” Spears wrote. “John and Victoria are the first responders, who literally saved Maddie’s life, and they were able to celebrate … another year of her life with us this past weekend!”
Maddie was involved in an ATV accident on her family’s property in Kentwood, Louisiana, on Super Bowl Sunday, when the vehicle she was riding flipped over into a pond. Spears and her husband Jamie Watson could not free her from the vehicle’s seatbelt and safety netting, so she was submerged underwater for several minutes until first responders arrived.
Maddie eventually regained consciousness and was able to return from the hospital five days later.
“Thank God for these amazing people, and thank God for your amazing grace. We are so blessed today, and everyday with this little angel!” Spears continued. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADDIE”
