YouTube star Jake Paul attempted the #BirdBoxChallenge in a video posted on Monday. The challenge involves doing tasks blindfolded like the characters in Neflix’s new thriller Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock.
Though Paul admitted to never having seen the film, he decided to attempt the challenge and blindfolded himself for 24 hours along with his friend George Janko. The beginning of the age-restricted video shows the 21-year-old driving while blindfolded and accidentally hitting a statue in a parking lot and then crashing into some trash and recycling bins. Fortunately, they end up deciding to call an Uber.
Later on in the video, Paul and Janko cross through traffic while cars honk at them. The cameraman gets upset and tells them, “That’s not funny, all right? That’s not funny,” before helping them cross the street.
Paul decided to end the challenge after falling into a lake when cameraman Arie decides to prank him.
Due to the popularity of the challenge, Netflix had to issue a warning telling people not to attempt it. See their tweet below:
Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.

Paul is no stranger to controversial videos and made sure to included his own disclaimer in the description box, writing, “Please be warned (and we cannot possibly stress this enough); under no circumstances should any challenges, stunts, or pranks be attempted by any of our viewers. All challenges, stunts, and pranks are performed by trained professionals in a controlled environment with proper safety measures taken, and are for entertainment purposes only! Again, do not try this at home!”
