Incarcerated rapper Beanie Sigel returns to the spotlight tomorrow (March 5), when AOL Music’s First Listen initiative begins streaming his new single, “Don’t Stop.” The track, which will be available exclusively on AOL for 24 hours, was produced by the Neptunes and features a guest appearance from Snoop Dogg.
“Don’t Stop” is drawn from Sigel’s next album, “The B.Coming,” which will arrive March 29 as the first release from the new Damon Dash Music Group. Among the production contributors are Just Blaze, Buckwild, DJ Scratch, Boola and Chad “Wes” Hamilton, while Cam’ron lends a hand on the track “Wanted.”
Not surprisingly, “The B.Coming” was influenced by Sigel’s legal troubles over the past several years. He is currently serving a year sentence in a Philadelphia federal prison for gun possession.
“When I started recording this album, I was going to call it ‘The Great Depression,'” the rapper says. “But over the course of making the album, I went from a really dark to place to a place where I feel I’ve grown and matured as a man and a father and a businessman.”
“The B.Coming” is the follow-up to 2001’s “The Reason,” which debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 559,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Sigel will also be seen this spring in the film “State Property 2,” which also stars Dash, N.O.R.E and Emilio Sparks. The movie arrives April 13 at U.S. theaters.
