Jaden Smith always has his hands full at the Met Gala. Last year, the young actor and artist carried his freshly cut dreadlocks on the red carpet. This time, a gold plaque recognizing the hit status of his single “Icon.”
Decked out in a Louis Vuitton coat with gold chains, white jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt from his own label MSFTS, Smith looked cool and confident at Monday’s celebrity extravaganza in New York City.
And why not. “Icon” has amassed nearly 60 million plays on Spotify and its parent album, SYRE, cracked the Top 40 hit on the Billboard 200 (peaking at No. 24).
This year’s theme for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s charity benefit was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” which explains all the gold.
The Karate Kid actor has a full 12 months to plan for his next Met Gala moment. No doubt he’ll want to show off a platinum disc. See pictures from the Met Gala below.
