Alan Jackson’s forthcoming “Greatest Hits Volume II” will feature 16 favorites by the artist, two new songs and a bonus disc with eight additional tracks. Due Aug. 12 via Arista Nashville, the set boasts the Jackson/Jimmy Buffett duet “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” currently No. 7 in its seventh week on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. The set will also feature the new song “Remember When.”
The initial 18-track disc culls material from five of Jackson’s albums, beginning with 1996’s “Everything I Love.” Included on the set are his recent No. 1 country hits “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” and “Drive (For Daddy Gene).”
To augment his hit singles, Jackson has packed the eight-track bonus disc with a selection of album cuts. Along with material from his more recent albums, this set also features selections from 1994’s “Who I Am” and 1992’s “A Lot About Livin’ (And a Little ‘Bout Love).”
Jackson’s last album, 2002’s “Drive” debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The collection has sold 3.3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and earned Jackson five Country Music Association (CMA) awards, including album of the year. Additionally, “Where Were You” picked up the single and song of the year CMAs, as well as the Grammy for best country song.
Jackson will be on the road throughout the summer, beginning with a July 24 show at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. On Sept. 19, he’s scheduled to perform a free show in New York’s Rockefeller Center as part of the “Today” summer concert series.
