New single and album releases from pop duo La Roux are battling it out with posthumous chart re-entries from Michael Jackson in the U.K.
According to the Official Charts Company (OCC), La Roux’s self-titled debut album (Polydor) leads the album chart ahead of Jackson’s “Number Ones” (Epic), “The Essential” and “King of Pop.” The early chart positions are based on sales from June 28 and June 29.
On the singles chart last week’s No. 1, La Roux’s “Bulletproof,” is marginally behind Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.”
As previously reported, the OCC said sales of Jackson’s catalog soared in the 48 hours following his death, on June 25, amounting to 200,000 singles and 100,000 albums.
