Singer/songwriter Jackson Browne has been tapped to speak on the opening day of the third annual ASCAP “I Create Music” Expo, to be held April 10-12 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles.
Along with being the ASCAP Founders Award honoree in 2004, Browne has also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2004) and the Songwriters Hall of Fame (2007). Leading up to his April 10 appearance at the ASCAP “I Create Music” event, Browne will be on the road performing solo concerts. On March 4, the artist will release “Jackson Browne — Solo Acoustic, Vol. 2.” A new studio album is expected for later this year.
Designed for songwriters, composers, producers and performers, the 2008 ASCAP “I Create Music” Expo — which has attracted more than 4,000 attendees since launching two years ago — will feature workshops, keynote speeches, master classes, song critiquing, networking events, technology demonstrations and artist performances.
The conference launches with the ASCAP Pop Music Awards at the Kodak Theatre on April 9.
An official schedule won’t be released until late March, but this year’s conference will feature a number of new and returning panelists, including lyricists Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman, songwriter/producer Glen Ballard, rappers Bun B and Chamillionaire, songwriter/artist Keri Hilson, artist/producer Butch Walker, songwriter/producer Linda Perry, songwriter/producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald and artist/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter, among others. A full list of panelists is available here.
