Jack White has accused the Black Keys of jacking his style and even beefed with Dan Auerbach for sending his kids to the same school as his. The Third Man Records leader apologized for those words last year, but a series of Patrick Carney tweets imply the feud has reignited.

According to Carney, White wanted to fight him in a New York City bar last night (Sept. 13). According to the drummer’s Twitter account, this was the first time he had ever met White in person. White and “a few friends” allegedly tried to fight the Black Keys drummer, though no mention of actual violence is made.

But there was a war of words, at least on Carney’s part. He called him a “40-year old bully” and wrote, “Jack White is basically Billy Corgan’s dumb ass zero t-shirt in human form.”

White responded to Carney’s comments in a statement via a representative:
“nobody tried to fight you patrick. nobody touched you or “bullied” you. you were asked a question you couldn’t answer so you walked away. so quit whining to the internet and speak face to face like a human being. end of story.”
Billboard also received this follow-up comment from Carney, via a representative:
“I got into music because of people like him. The bully assholes who made me feel like nothing. Music was a collaborative and non competitive thing. So, to get macho bullshit from within the musical community makes me angry and sad.”
