Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent royal family fans into a frenzy on Wednesday (Jan. 8), when the couple announced their decision to “to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family.”
The bombshell statement was met with varying opinions online–and, because it’s 2020, a slew of memes and hilarious responses, mostly aimed at the idea of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “quitting” their family.
Jack Osbourne took part in the fun, sharing an all-too-relatable thought with Prince Harry via Twitter. “Listen Prince Harry, if I can survive my family, you can survive yours,” he simply wrote. Since we don’t all get the choice to “step back.”

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment,” the royal couple, who married in spring 2018, continued in their statement. “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”
“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they continued, referring to their eight-month-old son, Archie. “We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”
