Jack Johnson will release his sixth studio album, titled “From Here to Now to You,” on Sept. 17 via Bushfire Records, it was announced on Monday. To prep fans for the LP, the folk rocker has also dropped new single “I Got You.”
The new track is just as acoustic and laid back as the rest of Johnson’s catalog, and was recorded at Johnson’s own Mango Tree studio in Hawaii. The new album was produced by Mario Caldato Jr., who Johnson worked with while recording his most successful album “In Between Dreams.” Caldato has also worked with Seu Jorge and Super Furry Animals, and the Beastie Boys.
Later this month Johnson will be playing entirely acoustic sets of his new material at highly exclusive invite-only gigs in New York and London. Fans can enter to win tickets to the performances at http://jackjohnsonmusic.com/tour. Winners will be announced tomorrow.
Right before his album hits shelves Johnson will be playing two shows in London, previewing some of the new songs. The first is scheduled for Sept. 8 at BBC Radio 2 Live, and the second is a Sept. 16 gig at the iTunes Festival.
“From Here to Now to You” is Johnson’s first studio album since 2010’s “To the Sea,” which became his third No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Dates for a U.S. tour are in the works, and will be announced soon.
