Icelandic band Sigur Rós is releasing three songs exclusively through iTunes Music Store starting tomorrow (Feb. 3). The music, originally improvised for a performance by the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, is collectively titled “BA BA TI KI DI DO.” (Sigur Rós often sings in its own invented language.)
The songs were performed live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s 2003 Next Wave Festival in October in New York and in December at the Theater de la Ville in Paris.
A CD and vinyl release of the recordings will be available in mid-March.
Also headed for iTunes tomorrow is Sigur Rós’ album “( ),” released in 2002 on MCA. This will be the first time the album is available as a legal download.
