Members of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza (fiscal police) made an arrest last night (Nov. 1) during a raid on an illegal CD burning facility in Poggioreale, near Naples.
During the course of the bust, officers seized 68 high-speed duplicators, 10,000 CDs and 11,000 blank CD-Rs. The facility was producing some 10,000 illegal CDs each day, according to the fiscal police.
Meanwhile Italy’s anti-piracy organization FPM reports that action against music piracy increased during the first six months of 2005
During the period, 899 illegal burners were seized, up from 869 in the corresponding period in 2004. Over the same time-frame, one million CDs were confiscated, up from 500,000. The total number of arrests in the first six months of 2005 was 238, vs 227 last time.
