Italian collection society SCF has signed a three-year agreement with Mediaset, the commercial TV company owned and operated by the family of prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.
“The agreement covers the playing of music on Mediaset’s three terrestrial networks (Canale 5, Rete 4 and Italia Uno) and four satellite channels (Happy Channel, Duel, MT Channel and Italian Scene), as well as digital versions of the terrestrial networks, which are currently in the test phase.
SCF represents an estimated 90% of Italian record labels.
SCF president Gianluigi Chiodaroli says in a statement, “We’re very satisfied. The Mediaset group is most attentive to the rights of artists and producers and was most helpful in reaching an agreement that was beneficial to all concerned.”
