Island Records (UK) executives Darcus Beese and Ted Cockle will be named co-presidents of the UK label tomorrow (April 16), according to sources. The duo will replace the label’s current president Nick Gatfield, whose contract was not renewed.
Beese has been with Island for 15 years, recently as director of A&R. Cockle joined the company in 2005 and recently served as marketing director. Both will report directly to David Joseph (chairman & CEO, Universal Music, UK).
Beese and Cockle were principal figures in the development of Amy Winehouse, The Feeling, Mika and Sugababes, among others.
Online reports point to Gatfield moving to EMI.
