Indie/electronic quartet Is Tropical will be releasing their third album Black Anything in 2015. Too long of a wait? Billboard has an exclusive premiere of a new song, “On My Way,” right now.
“We recorded a lot of ‘On My Way’ outside in Manhattan,” member Simon Milner tells Billboard. “We didn’t want to use a plug in for the vocal reverbs so hunted out some real life ones. Canal Street subway has some long connecting halls that we would all sit in one end singing and then picked up the sound from the other. Central Park also has those bridges with really interesting reflective sounds. So if you listen closely you can hear people talking, birds cheeping and the subway in the background. I don’t think we would have done this outdoor singing in London but it’s seems quite a normal thing to sing on the streets in NY haha.”
