Irv Gotti, whose Murder Inc. label once boasted such chart-topping artists like Ja Rule and Ashanti, says he’s “going to drop” the latter.
“Our relationship has run its course. We’re in two totally different places,” the Queens-born producer and label head told MTV about his current relationship with Ashanti this week. “We don’t really speak or talk and it’s sad, but in another way it’s like its all good. I don’t think she could win – she needs some guidance, but she’s not thinking that and honestly, I’m going to drop her.”
In related news, the R&B singer will be making her stage debut this summer as Dorothy in a revival of “The Wiz.” The musical will play June 12 through July 5 at New York City Center as part of its “Encores! Summer Stars” series.
