The Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) has named Rob Weitzner its VP of business development. Weitzner is taking over for the business responsibilities from VP of marketing Tim Mitchell, who will now focus exclusively on IODA’s various offline and online marketing initiatives.
Based in San Francisco, Weitzner will report directly to IODA CEO Kevin Arnold. Weitzner was most recently the director of membership development for the American Assn. of Independent Music (AAIM).
“Rob has played a special role in the development of AAIM, and we’ve been very lucky to have him as part of our founding team,” says AAIM acting president Peter Gordon through a spokesperson.
The indie label organization is in the final stages of interviewing candidates for Weitzner’s replacement as membership director, and expects to make an announcement on his successor after the holidays.
Recently, Thirsty Ear head Peter Gordon replaced Don Rose as the acting president of AAIM (Billboard.biz, Sept. 20).
