Fans’ wishes have finally been granted!
The new, full-length trailer for Into the Woods, the movie musical based on the beloved Stephen Sondheim Broadway show, has finally arrived. And unlike the first teaser, this clip gives fans a chance to hear some of the songs that make up a majority of the tale, including “Into the Woods” and “Stay With Me.” (Although the beginning of the trailer appears to suggest that much of “Into the Woods (Prologue)” will be spoken, not sung.)
Watch Meryl Streep, Anna Kendrick & More Sing in ‘Into The Woods’ Trailer
The plot involves fairy tale stories we’re all familiar with — Cinderella, Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, Rapunzel — but with a bit of a twist, where all their stories magically converge alongside an original tale about a baker and his wife and their quest for a child. Not to mention there’s an evil witch (Meryl Streep) afoot to complicate things. Plus: So much singing! An incredible Streep wig! Charming princes being charming!
In addition to Streep, Into the Woods also stars Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, and, most randomly, Johnny Depp as The Wolf. Which really is worth the price of admission on its own.
Into the Woods hits theaters Dec. 25.
