Universal Music Group label Interscope/Geffen/A&M has expanded its relationship with virtual world Doppelganger, which created the Doppelganger Music Lounge last year with the Pussycat Dolls.
The Lounge is a free online “social entertainment community” that features branded venues, music and events from the label’s various artists.
Following the Pussycat Dolls launch event last year, Interscope is expanding the list of participating artists, the first of which is Maroon 5, appearing today (May. 23). Doppelganger will create a different 3D virtual lounge for each artist, featuring the band’s posters, music and merchandise store. Fans can create avatars and explore the lounge, chat with other fans, and even interact with bandmembers themselves when they make special appearances.
