What would Netflix’s Tiger King be like as a musical? That’s what Ingrid Michaelson and Broadway star Will Chase set out to discover.
The couple uploaded an incredible video called “Tigers and Young Men” on Tuesday (April 14), in which they poke fun at tiger handler Joe Exotic’s history of polygamy and alleged animal abuse. Chase very convincingly takes on the role of Exotic, complete with the blond mullet, trucker hat, chain belt and colored sunglasses. Michaelson appears as his rival, Carole Baskin, who definitely fed her ex-husband to a tiger.
“I like tigers and young men / Young men and tigers / They can’t be too young, they can’t be too old / Of course, I’m talking about the men / But I also like my tigers young / Just like my men,” Chase sings in the emotional country ballad.
Michaelson and Chase premiered the song on Broadway.com’s #LiveatFive: Home Edition, but paired their fun with a good cause. For the clip, they partnered The Humane Society of the United States, the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization.
