Veteran music industry executive Al Bell has established a new company, Al Bell Presents. Bell is the former owner of Stax Records and president of Motown.
The cornerstones of Al Bell Presents are a full-service Web site and “Al Bell Presents American Soul Music,” the first of several planned Internet music channels. Both entities (available through AlBellPresents.com) were developed by Charleston, S.C.-based American Media Services-Interactive, an affiliate of the engineering and broadcast development firm American Media Services.
The online radio station offers a streaming 24-hour music format dedicated to classic and contemporary soul, R&B/hip-hop, blues, gospel and jazz. Web site components include exclusive artist interviews, classic videos, new music from emerging artists and merchandise. “It’s my desire through this diverse mixture of music to provide a connection to the past and a lifeline into the future,” says Bell in a press statement released today.
