A host of notable names have signed on for two upcoming indie-centric music festivals. First up is the inaugural Arthurball, which will be held Feb. 25-26 at the Echo and Ex-Plex in Los Angeles. The event will be headlined by Joanna Newsom on the first night and on the second by the 5:15ers, consisting of Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and longtime collaborator Chris Goss.
The Arthurball lineup will also feature performances by Born Heller featuring Josephine Foster, Growing, Entrance, Tarantula A.D., Brightblack Morning Light, Pearls & Brass, Town & Country and Unknown Inspectors, staffed by former Minutemen/fIREHOSE principals Mike Watt and George Hurley.
In addition to film screenings, Arthurball will offer a “vibrational healing chamber” and appearances by “poets, thinkers, artists, jokers, yappers and typers,” according to organizers at Arthur Magazine. “You can go to South by Southwest or you can skip to the good stuff,” Arthur editor in chief Jay Babcock tells Billboard.com.
Like-minded artists will be on hand for the No Fun Fest, which is set March 17-19 at the Hook in Brooklyn, N.Y. The gathering boasts performances by the No Neck Blues Band, Borbetomagus, Wolf Eyes, Jim O’Rourke with Chris Corsano, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore with Leslie Keffer and Zeena Parkins with Ikue Mori, among many others.
Three-day passes are on sale now for $40; single-day tickets will go on sale Feb. 15.
