Mobile marketing and digital distribution agency Indie Mobile has struck an exclusive content and mobile rights agreement with reggae label VP Records, covering the world excluding Japan, North America and the Caribbean.
Through the deal, Indie Mobile will have rights to full-track and all other mobile products for VP recordings, including works by Sean Paul, Shaggy, Morgan Heritage, Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Wayne Wonder, Beenie Man, and Elephant Man.
VP, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2004, boasts one of the world’s most extensive catalogs of Caribbean music with an archive of more than 15,000 tracks.
“VP Records has the world’s largest and best reggae music catalog and this new agreement allows us to work with some of biggest names in the genre,” comments Seth Jackson, managing director of Indie Mobile, in a statement.
Brussels-based independent music firm PIAS Group acquired a 50% stake in Indie Mobile last year. The “significant investment,” explained PIAS in a statement issued at the time, was meant to pool both partners’ know-how to craft a one-stop, international mobile service for independent labels and artists.
