Enrique Iglesias’ “95/08” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart this week, with over 22,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. “95/08,” which is Iglesias’ first ever all-hits album in Spanish, includes the 18 Iglesias tracks that have placed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart through the years.
Iglesias’ 18 No. 1 hits are more than any artist in the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart’s history. Prior to Iglesias, the honor belonged to Mexican crooner Luis Miguel, who currently has 16 No. 1s. In 2007, Iglesias was tied with Miguel and then passed him when “Dímelo” became his 17th chart topper. In 2008, Iglesias’ new single, “Dónde Están Corazón,” reached No. 1 on the chart, bringing him to his current total.
Slightly behind Miguel’s total is Gloria Estefan, who has scored 13 No. 1s.
“95/08” becomes the fifth Spanish language album that Iglesias has placed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart. It joins the ranks of Iglesias’ 1995 self-titled debut, 1997’s “Vivir,” 1998’s “Cosas del Amor” and 2002’s “Quizás.”
“95/08” also scored well in the digital arena with 6.8% of its sales corresponding to digital albums. The set is currently at No. 1 in the iTunes Latino sales chart, and three Iglesias tracks are among the top 10 songs.
