Iggy Azalea might be fancy when you see her take the stage or in her music videos, but that doesn’t mean she wants to be all dolled-up all the time.
The rapper is opening up about her image in the May issue of Marie Claire. “I’m a little scrappy for sure, but I like that about myself,” she says. “Even with paparazzi pictures of me looking like complete shit, and people are like, ‘She should try harder,’ I’m like, no. There’s something to say about not being so contrived all the time. You should hold on to that as long as you can.”
In fact, Iggy (who recently confirmed she had breast augmentation) hopes she can serve as an inspiration to other women out there when they see her snapped by the paparazzi in real life. “I hope women think, Iggy Azalea actually has a body that is relatable to my body… and you should feel fucking good about that,” she says.
Next up for Iggy is her highly-anticipated collaboration with Britney Spears, “Pretty Girls” (out May 5), but Iggy is still pretty proud of her inescapable 2014 collaboration with Charli XCX, “Fancy.”
“I think it’s particularly badass that we wrote ‘Fancy’,” she tells the magazine. “It was one of the most culturally impactful songs of last year, and two fucking chicks in their early 20s wrote it.”
