Iggy Azalea, Fall Out Boy, Maddie & Tae and Shawn Mendes are among the dozen acts that will perform Saturday at Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge’s Saturday afternoon pre-Grammy showcase event at the downtown Ace Hotel.
The annual event, which last year featured Lorde, Kacey Musgraves, Aloe Blacc and others, brings together Universal Music Group label heads, brand representatives and executives in the digital and film/TV spaces. Each act generally does two songs each, many of them Grammy-nominated.
Three of the performers will be touting new material for the industry crowd.
Teenage country singers Maddie & Tae, who hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart with “Girl in a Country Song,” will be releasing their debut album later this year. Recently named an MTV artist to watch, Mendes released the official video for his single “A Little Too Much” on Wednesday; his debut album comes out April 28 on Island Records.
Fall Out Boy will be seen during the Feb. 8 Grammy Awards telecast on a Pepsi ad, where they will be performing “Uma Thurman” in a record-pressing plant.
