Coming off the $70 million-plus box office success of “Barbershop,” Ice Cube returns to familiar territory with “Friday After Next,” due Friday (Nov. 22) in U.S. theaters. Reprising his role as Craig, the rapper/actor re-teams with Mike Epps, John Witherspoon, Don “D.C.” Curry, and Anna Maria Horsford in the third installment of the “Friday” series.
This time, Craig and Day-Day (Epps) are back in the hood and have to battle with a recently paroled ex-con, his landlord mother, and a thieving Santa Claus all on Christmas Eve, which happens to fall on a Friday. “Friday After Next,” written and co-produced by Ice Cube, marks the feature directorial debut of noted music video director Marcus Raboy (Santana, 112, LFO).
The film’s accompanying soundtrack, due today via Hollywood, features classic Christmas songs from Eartha Kitt and the Temptations as well as a new cuts from the Ice Cube-fronted Westside Connection, Nappy Roots, 50 Cent, and the Flipmode Squad.
