The self-proclaimed “dog lover” Ian McKellen has decided to give felines a chance after watching Cats.
The acclaimed actor, who plays a role in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular musical, took to Twitter on Friday (Dec. 6) to give his official review. “A confession: I’ve never been a fan of cats,” he wrote. “Dogs for me every time, to look at and be friends with. But I’ve just seen the final cut of the imminent ‘CATS’ movie and I’m a convert.”
“Tom Hooper has cast some of the world’s most sensational dancers, who match classical steps with hip-hop,” he continued. “Time and again I gasped as they cavorted and spun and tapped across the screen. Even Fred Astaire would be impressed.”
McKellen then went on to praise his costars, including Francesca Hayward, Laurie Davidson, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden and Rebel Wilson.
“Other dog-lovers, prepare to be enchanted,” he concluded. Cats hits theaters Dec. 20. See McKellen’s Twitter review below.
