Not Quite ‘Human’
French electronica duo Daft Punk returns this week with its third studio album, “Human After All.” Although the 10-track set is Daft Punk’s first album since 2001’s “Discovery,” the set was assembled over the course of just six weeks this fall in the act’s Paris home studio.
As Virgin Records claims, “Human After All” is indeed “more spontaneous and direct” than Daft Punk’s prior releases, incorporating dashes of rock’n’roll on “Robot Rock” and un-ironic emotional sentiments on “Make Love.”
“Discovery” peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart and has sold more than 526,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned four top-10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart: “One More Time” (No. 1), “Face to Face” (No. 1), “Harder Better Faster Stronger” (No. 3) and “Digital Love” (No. 9).
