Pop’s ‘Prize’ PatrolIggy Pop is the subject of a career-spanning retrospective and a live DVD this summer due this week via Virgin/EMI Music Catalog Marketing. The 37-track “A Million in Prizes: The Iggy Pop Anthology” runs the gamut from Stooges classics to material from Pop’s 2003 album “Skull Ring.” The DVD “Live From the Avenue B” was shot in Belgium in 1999 during Pop’s tour in support of the album of the same name.
The first 10 tracks on disc one of “Prizes” are from Pop’s days fronting the Stooges, including “No Fun,” “Search and Destroy” and “Raw Power.” The disc is rounded out by highlights from albums like “The Idiot” and “Lust for Life,” including “Sister Midnight” and “The Passenger.”
Disc two boasts favorites such as “Real Wild Child (Wild One),” live versions of “TV Eye” and “Loose” taped at Ireland’s Feile Festival in August 1993, the No. 2 Modern Rock chart hit “Home” and Pop’s lone entry on the Billboard Hot 100, “Candy” with the B-52’s Kate Pierson. That cut reached No. 28 in 1990.
“Live From the Avenue B” sports 21 tracks such as “Cold Metal,” “Death Trip,” “Nazi Girlfriend” and “Louie Louie,” plus the requisite round of Stooges songs.
