‘Somewhere’ Out ThereCountry veteran Alan Jackson’s “Greatest Hits Volume II” (Arista Nashville) has already spawned a No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart with the Jimmy Buffett duet “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” The album features 16 Jackson favorites, the new song “Remember When” and a bonus disc with eight additional tracks.
The initial 18-track disc culls material from five of Jackson’s albums, beginning with 1996’s “Everything I Love.” Included on the set are his recent No. 1 country hits “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” and “Drive (For Daddy Gene).”
To augment his hit singles, Jackson has packed the eight-track bonus disc with a selection of album cuts. Along with material from his more recent albums, this set also features selections from 1994’s “Who I Am” and 1992’s “A Lot About Livin’ (And a Little ‘Bout Love).”
Jackson’s last album, 2002’s “Drive” debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The collection has sold 3.3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and earned Jackson five Country Music Association (CMA) awards, including album of the year.
